So, Mom is home and very tired. She is recovering and feels like she will be up and about by next week. Here's to hoping all goes well.
And now the part where I need some help. Jayden is very into "NO" and "NEVER". Does anyone else have to deal with "I'm never going to eat blah-de-blah ever again" or "I'm never going to wear that shirt ever" or "I'm never going to share with so-and-so (usually Ellie goes in there)" ?
PLEASE advise! His "no"'s and "never"'s are driving me insane!!

Yep....everytime Rebecca say's No or I'm Not going to...A toy get's taken away, starting with her most favorite. In this instance its her ball gowns from Disney. When she goes 4 days without saying those words, she gets one back. then another 4 days and another. I explained that when she answers a question with the word NO, it should be followed by Ma'am. But that it's ok to answer a question with No. But not ok to say No I won't.
Glad you're moms better. I'm headed up there tomorrow. I'll give you a call.
I second Julie's method of removing toys. For any behavior I refuse to tolerate, we have time-outs followed by toys removed or certain normal prviledges like watching their daily 20 minute video of choice taken away.
For toys removed, they only come back when they are extraordinarily good with something one day...
I hope things improve with the behavior!
I'm so glad that your mom's surgery went well and she's home recovering. Whew!
Sweet Pea has been pushing SO much lately too - between that and The Bug being such a danger to herself on a daily basis it's a wonder I'm not bald. I'm having a hard time of it as well, because for whatever reason I have a hard time remembering to give her time-outs when she pushes me too much. I think a big part of the reason for that is that The Bug distracts me so much that I lose track of how many times I've asked her to do something, etc. She doesn't say "no" or "never" very often, but she drags things like getting dressed out for HOURS. So essentially she's saying the same thing only with behavior rather than words.
Slipshod has started to ask her every day when he gets home if she was good that day and if not then for two days she does not get to play the marble game we have for the X-box with him after dinner. If she can be good for two or three days in a row she gets to play again.
There's definitely more work to be done to remind her on an ongoing basis that there is something riding on her behavior, but it's starting to help a little bit. She is definitely more motivated to get a good report at the end of each day, and she is starting to be interested in racing the timer to get dressed, etc., which makes for WAY better days than the drag-her-feet type of days.
